Although it has a reputation as a premier destination for freestyle snowboarders and skiers, Buttermilk is also a family friendly resort with plenty of runs suitable for beginners and intermediates. The terrain is divided into three areas: Main Buttermilk, West Buttermilk and Tiehack. Main and West Buttermilk primarily cater to beginner and intermediate skiers, while Tiehack offers more advanced runs. The resort features a total of 44 trails served by 8 lifts. The resort is also home to the Hideout, an innovative children's center that aids young learners in their skiing and snowboarding journey. Buttermilk is part of the Aspen Snowmass, a collection of four ski areas owned and operated by the Aspen Skiing Company.
